Amazing Sand Sculptures

Monday, September 7, 2009

You're never too old to play in the sand! Sand sculpting has become a popular art form in recent years. Hundreds of annual competitions are held throughout the world. Some artists prefer not to use additional materials such as coloring, formwork or adhesive, while others use pieces of wood to reinforce structures. In competitions, the rules often require that the finished sculpture be sprayed with a stabilizing coating that preserves it and allows the work to be properly judged.

In recent years, many artists have formed companies specifically geared towards creating sand sculptures. These companies have found a market with corporate and private clients looking to promote a business or product or simply for the enjoyment of their guests at a special event. While most of these companies operate part time, there a few that operate as full time businesses.
