Don't Panic, Bees are More Afraid of You

My children are getting older, and I think they need a little more exposure to the outdoor life. We've lived in the country for their entire lives, but so far, they're more of the indoor type. They're more interesting in fashion than playing outside. I must have the only children that have to be told to go outside and play on a beautiful day. My youngest daughter won't go outside if she sees a bee. My older daughter doesn't like to go outside if it's windy because it might mess up her hair. They're definitely "girly" girls! I found the most adorable picnic backpack that may help me get them to go outside. It's so cute, they won't be able to resist.

I've tried to take them outside in our yard, set up a blanket, and have a picnic on the patio. Everything goes well for a few minutes, but the first sign of a bug and they're out of there! Maybe, if they help pack their own picnic baskets and we sit at a picnic table instead of the ground, they'll be willing to give it another try. We tried to go to park and have a picnic there, but the geese insisted that we share our food. Geese can get a little pushy, so my girls don't want to bring food there again. My mom tells them to toughen up a little, but they think they're tough enough!

If I can't get the girls to go on a picnic with me, maybe they can play at a friend's house and my husband and I can enjoy some time to ourselves. Some of our friends have offered to watch the girls so we can have a "date night". We've been married for over 12 years, and I don't think we've ever gone on a picnic. It always seems so romantic in the movies. Maybe, we could pack a picnic basket with a bottle of wine and cheese. I can't remember the last time we had an afternoon to ourselves! One way or another, I'll be enjoying the outdoors before the cold weather arrives, whether it's with my children, my husband, or all of us together!
