Satellite TV is My Necessary Luxury

Wednesday, October 20, 2010

I've recently been trying to find ways to cut back on my monthly expenses, and for a moment, I debated whether or not I really need Direct TV. I decided that since we don't pay very much each month for our satellite TV, I don't want to lose something that I really enjoy just to save a few bucks.

I had considered subscribing to one of those movie services that let you rent a certain number of movies every month and doing without satellite service, but then I realized that it wouldn't be as fun as flipping through the channels at night the way I do with my LocalTV-Satellite. That's my relaxation time at night when the kids have gone to bed, and my husband is playing on his computer. It's funny how I can have a shelf full of movies, and I don't watch them very often, but when they happen to be on TV, I'm excited that they're on! We also like to check the news channels to see what's going on, and you can't do that when all you have are movies.

I try not to waste a lot of money on things I don't need (the key word being try), but now I realize that having something that helps me unwind after a long day or something that gives me the opportunity to enjoy a movie or show with my kids is definitely not a waste of money. Especially when you can go to and get a great deal. Some people might think that watching TV is time that could be better spent doing something constructive, but as far as I'm concerned, spending time with family and friends while watching a good program is an excellent way to spend some time!

Pardon Services Makes it Possible to Travel the World

Friday, October 15, 2010

Most of us have something from our past that we'd like to keep in the past, but if you have a criminal conviction, that's not always possible. If you're a Canadian citizen trying to travel to the U.S., but you haven't been able to because of your record, Pardon Services may be able to help you. Depending on the crime, there are waiting periods between 3 to 10 years. A pardon allows people to travel and work in foreign countries, and records will be sealed from federal authorities and police.

Pardon services has been helping people since 1994, so you can be confident that they have the necessary experience to get the job done. Lucy Perrillo is the founder of this organization, and she has a law enforcement degree, so she understands the workings of the system. It all started when a friend came to her for help, and she's been helping people receive Canadian pardons and U.S. waivers ever since that time. The United States doesn't recognize Canadian pardons, which is why a waiver may be required when traveling.

Photo Restoration Keeps Memories Alive

Sunday, October 10, 2010

Photographs capture a moment in time. They offer a glimpse of far away places, and they allow us to see images of people we've heard about but never met. I live far from my parents, but thanks to the invention of photography, they were able to see pictures of their first grandchild right away. Pictures let you feel like you were there, and that makes it a little easier to be away from home. Family is very important to me, so we've used photo restoration to restore some old pictures of my husband's family.

We found pictures that we never knew existed until his mother started going through old boxes. Some of these pictures were too far gone, but many of them could be restored, and now my children can see the faces of their ancestors. It means a lot to me to have these pictures, because it lets my kids see that these were real people and not just names from the past. Now that we've had some of these pictures restored, we're going to have them mounted so we can hang them on the wall. I can only hope that some day, my great-great grandchildren will enjoy seeing pictures of me!

Cotton Medical Scrubs For Men and Women

Tuesday, October 5, 2010

Cotton medical scrubs are so comfortable that some people are wearing them as regular clothing. It's a popular style for the kids to wear wear the scrub tops with jeans. I have to admit that it does look cute. Who knew that a work uniform would become a popular style!

When you need to buy medical uniforms for work, you don't need to spend your entire paycheck. You can find nice uniforms in different colors that aren't expensive. You can even order custom uniforms if you want them to fit a certain way.

Nursing scrub pants and tops have come a long way since I used to have to wear the them. When you spend a lot of time at work, it makes it nice to have clothes that make you feel confident, and scrubs that fit well can make a big difference in how you feel at work.

A Beautiful Soul

Most Beautiful Woman In The World

She has no special talent
No special beauty mark
No invention with a patent
No voice of a comely lark

No hourglass physique
No sunbeam likened smile
No lingering mystique
No manicured nails to file

But what she had she flaunted
With the style of a fur-lined stole
With the chic of a runway model
She flashed her beautiful soul

Natural Treats to Clean Dog Teeth

Friday, October 1, 2010

Anyone who know me knows that my dogs are spoiled. They're mainly indoor dogs who sleep on the couch (and my bed when my husband isn't looking), and they pretty much get what they want. I want them to live for a long time, so I feed them natural food and give them dog dental chews to keep their teeth clean. Bad teeth don't just cause bad breath, but they can lead to additional health problems. I don't want my dogs to have to go through any unnecessary surgery to have their teeth cleaned, so I try to avoid that by giving them Nylabone treats that reduce tartar.

Nylabone Nubz are made from real chicken, and they're gluten free. Dogs can have food sensitivities, and gluten can irritate dogs' stomachs that same way it does people's stomachs. If you're a Costco shopper, you can use the coupon in the monthly book to get a bag of these treats for $3.50 from August 19th – September 12th. These treats are highly digestible, which makes me feel good about giving them to my dogs, because they've been known to swallow food without chewing, and I worry about things getting stuck in their stomach.

Larger dog treats can be broken to make smaller treats if you don't want them to have the entire treat at one time. Animals depend on us to take care of them, and I want to do the best I can to help my dogs have a good life. Every time I see that commercial with the animals in the shelter and you hear "In the Arms of the Angels" by Sarah McLachlan, it makes me want to take all of those animals home with me. I know I can't do that, because I already have two dogs, so it wouldn't be good for me or the dogs, but I can do everything possible to make sure that my own dogs are well taken care of. For me, this starts with the little things like keeping their teeth clean and healthy.
